SURAH AT TAKATHUR
(The Rivalry In World Increase)
بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ
(1) Al haaku mut takathur
The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things)
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ
(2) Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir
Until ye visit the graves
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
(3) Kalla sawfa ta'lamoon
But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality)
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
(4) Thumma kalla sawfa ta'lamoon
Again, ye soon shall know
كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
(5) Kalla law ta'lamoona 'ilmal yaqeen
Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ
(6) Latara-wun nal jaheem
Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
(7) Thumma latara wunnaha 'ainal yaqeen
Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight
ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
(8) Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin 'anin na'eem
Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!)
